Activities of the Institute are conducted both through it’s Headquarters and also through it’s Branches & Centres situated at the different parts of the country to fulfil the objectives as above.
The Indian Welding Journal (IWJ), the official technical journal of the institute is published quarterly with articles on all sections of welding technologies. Currently the IWJ is being published collaboratively with an exclusive section from American Welding Society (AWS).
IWJ is an effective media for product information and interactions between Manufacturers
and Users in the field of welding.
Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, and Tutorials are held regularly organised by branches of the Indian Institute of Welding. The National Welding Seminar / National Welding Meet held every year, is a meeting ground and a common platform for exchanging practical problem - solving experiences and a forum for observing the technological developments and its direction. The Institute encourages good quality papers for which various awards are given after evaluation by technical committee of the Institute. Most of the awards are sponsored by reputed organisations of our country.
Associate Membership Examinations started in the year 1986 and are held regularly at different centres. AMIIW degree is equivalent to Engineering Degree as per the notification by Ministry of HRD of the Government of India.
Short courses on various aspects of Welding and allied practices, Inspection and NDT are held at different locations in India, sometimes jointly with other organisations or Institutions.
