| Associate Engineers award is given in the inaugural function of the National Welding Seminar or International Congress and Award is given to the best M. Tech. Thesis submitted for award of degree in the previous academic year. |

| Evaluation Criteria |
| Award is given to a student registered for M. Tech. degree in one of the academic Institutions in India (IITs, IISc, NITs, Engg. Colleges, Universitites) etc. |

| Evaluation Procedure |
- IIW will invite nominations for the award and students shall apply in a format prepared by Tech. Committee of IIW
- The nomination shall contain an undertaking form the Guide and Head of Dept. of Institute stating that work was carried out under his/her guidance in their Institute
- Students who carry out projects outside India (even though he/she is registered in an Institute within the country) will not be considered
- Student should have successfully completed the course for he/she being considered for award (Student should not have any back papers which he/she has to pass for obtaining the degree at the time of receiving the award)
- A panel of judges constituted by IIW Technical Committee would evaluate the thesis and choose the winner. Only original work carried out in one of the Indian Academic or Research Institutes would only be considered for this award

| Award: The winner (student) of the award will receive a cash prize of Rs 5,000.00. Both the student and Guide(s) will receive certificates. |
