TRANSITION ROUTE for (IWCP) International Welding Coordination Personnel : IWE/IWT/IWS/IWP
(International Institute of Welding Diploma and complies to the requirement as per ISO 14731)




The Transition Criteria Options mentioned for International Welding Coordination Personnel (IWE, IWT, IWS & IWP) are general requirements for candidates wishing to apply for award of Diploma through Transition Arrangements. However, conformance of the candidate’s total qualification and experience with the Transaction Criteria approved by the International Authorisation Board (IAB) and achieved by the candidate on or before 3rd January 2011 will be judged by the Assessment Committee for Transition Arrangements of for IWCP conducted by The Indian Institute of Welding-ANB, whose decision will be binding for award of Transaction Diploma.

Candidates may go through the Brochure for IWCP Transition Route to check Eligibility and study “IWCP Transition Route:How to Apply” . Candidates are required to send duly filled Applications Form No: 34 & Registration Form No:16A (Available under the IWCP Download) along with CV highlighting the Qualifications obtained (Mention the dates) with overall experience in industry and specifically with respect to welding fabrication & related activities in chronological order mentioning the names of the organisations and the period of engagement, responsibility etc. and accompanied with copies of all qualification and experience certificates and testimonials from past and current employers along with the prescribed ‘Application Fees’ +GST as applicable. These documents are essential for determining eligibility to qualify by Transition Route and incomplete documentation may result in the rejection of the Application by the Assessment Committee.

Balance amount of fees as per table above except the Certificate Issue Charges’ as per above table should be paid once approved by our Assessment Committee for meeting the Transition Criteria as per IIW-IAB approved Criteria for the particular level of qualification before the candidate attends the 5 day refresher course followed by the Objective test and interview on the 5th day. Successful candidates after payment of Certificate Issue Charges will be provided the recommended & eligible IIW Diploma.
ANB-India also organises courses at customers’ premises when full infrastructure and other supports are provided at an agreed location to conduct the course for minimum 15 candidates.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE for (IWCP) International Welding Coordination Personnel – (IWE/IWT) (International Institute of Welding Diploma and complies to the requirement as per ISO 14731) The Alternative route does not involve fulltime study at an ATB for about 450 hours of lesson as for Standard Route for IWCP (IWE & IWT). This option is available for candidates (Presently only for IWE & IWT) having minimum 4 years relevant experience in welding and related area with responsibility.
However the candidate must be himself sure that he does not require any structured lesson input in any of the Modules (Refer to IAB Guideline –Short Version) Candidate has to submit a specified Application and go through a rigorous Application check, submit a Project Report for presentation. The candidate has to clear all these steps before being allowed to appear in the full examinations as above. Presently the option is available for IWE & IWT only.

Candidates are required to send duly filled Applications Form No: 44 & Registration Form No:16A (Available under the IWCP Download) along with CV highlighting the Qualifications obtained (Mention the dates) with overall experience in industry and specifically with respect to welding fabrication & related activities in chronological order mentioning the names of the organisations and the period of engagement, responsibility etc. and accompanied with copies of all qualification and experience certificates and testimonials from past and current employers along with the prescribed ‘Application Fees’ +GST as applicable. These documents are essential for determining eligibility to qualify by Transition Route and incomplete documentation may result in the rejection of the Application by the Assessment Committee.

Balance amount of fees as per table are to be paid in two stages as below except the Certificate Issue Charges’ and should be paid once he qualifies in the final written and oral examination conducted by ANB Examiners following same standard as Standard Route. Successful candidates after payment of Certificate Issue Charges will be provided the recommended & eligible IIW Diploma.

2018 Calendar for IWIP Refresher Courses for Transition Route
The IIW Diploma of International Welding Inspector qualification is awarded at three levels of Comprehensive (IWI-C), Standard (IWI-S) & Basic (IWI-B) following the IIW Guideline IAB-041 (latest edition). The short version of the IWIP Guideline 041 may be downloaded. The IWIP qualification is approved as suitable as Welding Coordination Person for Welding Inspection activities meeting the requirement under ISO 14731 and desired qualification for a company certification as per ISO 3834.

The competency covers pre-existing qualification & knowledge with experience in Welding fabrication and related area along with Welding NDT and mechanical testing. Depending upon the level of knowledge the candidate may be suitable for Comprehensive, Standard or Basic level. Currently only the Transition route is offered for candidates meeting the IIW-IAB specified Transition Criteria for IWIP in India.

Candidates are required to attend a 6 Day IWIP Refresher Course covering 20 Modules on Welding Technology & Inspection followed by written test and Oral examination on 6th day for qualifying existing practicing professionals by Transition Route. Refresher course by Transition Route is now allowed indefinitely without any end date subject to the candidates fulfilling the Transition Criteria with respect to qualification and experience achieved by candidates on or before 13th January. However, conformance of the candidate’s total qualification and experience with the Transition Criteria approved by the International Authorisation Board (IAB) will be judged by the Assessment Committee for Transaction Arrangements of the Indian Institute of Welding-ANB, whose decision will be binding for award of Diploma by Transition route.

Refresher Course schedule will be announced as and when organised at a specific place and venue. Individual approved & registered candidates are individually intimated for a particular course. Candidates fulfilling the entry requirements of Route-1 for comprehensive Welding Inspection qualification may be exempted from attending the 6 day refresher course based on his actual experience to be determined by the Assessment Committee, but shall have to appear for the written test and interview.

Incomplete documentation may result in the rejection of the Application by the Assessment Committee. Once approved the candidate is required to pay the balance amount of fees except Rs.3,000 (+GST) for the Diploma Certificate, payable after the candidates attend the refresher course and passes the Objective test and interview.
