Facilities available: The Don Bosco Maritime Academy scores over other engineering training facilities by providing sufficient number of machines in spacious workshops, excellent trainer/trainee ratio and motivating the student to do his/her best. Our Highly Qualified Engineers (Marine and other Disciplines) have substantial Industry Experience besides experience in conducting training in Theory as well as actual Practical Exercises. Our instructors are similarly vocationally qualified and have many years of industry experience. Our courses are designed after interactive sessions with the client company’s Technical Management, and imitate actual conditions and requirements. Money spent on such training is recompensed through the reduced number of jobs for outside workshops and reduced downtime of the plant. Just a Sample of our facilities – We have sufficient machines (3 Mech. Hacksaws, 20 lathes, 4 Shapers) to prepare raw material for welding training alone. |

Training Methodology: The courses are conducted as a mix of classroom lectures, table top exercises and workshop practicals. Usually for workshop courses, there are no classroom lectures and instructions are given in the workshops itself when required, using blackboards and other facilities. Important information is also given in the form of suitable handouts. The duration of each course may be increased on any day if required, so that the skills as per plan are imbibed by all participants, as decided by the instructor. |

Tests of Workshop Skills of Technicians (Trade Tests as these are popularly known in Industry): Trade Tests form another important activity of our academy. We have been conducting these tests for shipping and shore-based industries (marine and others) for the past 7 years. Till date we have tested a few thousand technicians in various skills. Our tests are elaborate, well quantified and transparent. Remedial actions are suggested if required. Each participant and each report goes through the vigilant eye of our Principal. While we do have ready tests for standard trades we can also formulate tests as per specified requirements of a job as stated by prospective employers.
