ADMISSION TO P.G. COURSE IN
M E Welding Technology programme
(Sponsored by L & T)
Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering
M.S. University of Baroda
A two-year Master’s degree programme in Welding Technology is being offered from the year 2006 at the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, M.S. University of Baroda. This is a special, industry-oriented, industry-supported programme sponsored by Larsen & Toubro. Admission for the current year will be made by the M. S. University of Baroda in July 2010.
About 10-15 students are admitted to this course every year. Approximately half of them will be sponsored by L&T – paid a scholarship/stipend during the two years of the course and absorbed in one of the L&T units on successful completion. From 2009, some students are also similarly sponsored by ESAB India and Ador Welding. Regular visits to L&T Works and lectures by L&T experts are an integral part of the programme. Project Work will be arranged at the sponsoring industries.
 
There will be a few students not sponsored by any organization and hence not getting a stipend. For sponsored or non-sponsored candidates, GATE qualification is not necessary for applying to the programme.
 
Admission to the above course will be made by M.S. University of Baroda in accordance with usual procedure. All students, who have successfully completed the B.E. / B.Tech. programme in Metallurgy, Mechanical / Production Engineering or Mechatronics with minimum 55% aggregate, are eligible to apply. Sponsoring industries will also use their own criteria for selecting students for sponsorship.
 
Prescribed application forms are available at Metallurgical & Materials Engg. Dept., M.S. University of Baroda OR can be downloaded from the M.S. University website: www.msubaroda.ac.in Completed applications along with the prescribed application fees and all necessary certificates and documents asked for should be sent to the Head, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering Dept., Faculty of Tech. & Engg., The M.S. University of Baroda, Baroda or before June 20, 2010. Short-listed candidates will be called to appear for a selection test / interview at the Dept. of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering on July 8, 2010. The selected students have to pay the necessary fees immediately thereafter. The classes will start on July 15, 2010.

Forms for the above application are available from Metallurgical & Materials Engg. Dept. Office from 20-5-2010 to 20-6-2010 between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on payment of Rs. 200/-.
 
 
All applicants should report for an interview (including sponsorship test, etc.) on 8th July 2010 at 9.00 a.m. at the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, M.S. University of Baroda. No separate letter will be issued calling applicants for interview. Please note that the selected students should arrange to pay the fees immediately. Regular classes will commence on 15th July 2010.
 
 
Please note that L&T will sponsor 6 candidates and ESAB India – 2 candidates, with stipend equal to GATE Fellowship. Students with B.E. (Metallurgy), B.E. (Mechanical / Production) and B.E. (Mechatronics) qualification with minimum 55% aggregate are eligible to apply.
