The Kolkata Branch of the Indian Institute of welding. The premier professional welding institute in India which is also affiliated to the international institute of welding is organizing a one day all India conference onWelding applications in construction and maintenance of power plants on 23rd September 2006 at the park hotel kolkata
   
  Theme
   
 

Welding process is extensively used in the construction erection and maintenance of all types of power plants viz thermal nuclear hydro based and gas based with increasing requirement of energy in keeping with the high industrial growth a quantum jump in power generation is projected.

The conference aims to bring the specialists working in the frontier areas on to a common platform so as to share their knowledge and will focus on the role of welding in various stages of construction of an existing plant and also deliberate on the technological developments in the welding technology related to this field.
   
  The topics of discussion will be as follows:
   
 
  • Identify opportunities to introduces more challenging materials which can help to increase the cycle efficiency of the future power plants.
  • To reap the benefits of the advances in welding technology to make successful joints more efficiently.
  • To examine the critical problems in power plants maintenance and possibility of applying the latest techniques of reclamation and repair welding for increasing the operating efficiency of the Power Plants.
  • Overview of the emerging requirements and future developments in the related field.
