  Abstract: Nanotechnology has become a push word in the area of Science & Technology. It is claimed that this is the technology of the new millennium and will transform our lives beyond imagination. It has applications in almost all areas of science and technology known today.
   
  Hard-surfacing is a major area of repair and maintenance welding. It is used extensively in applications where severe wear is observed. Weld hardfacing using non-technology is the latest innovation in this field and products are commercially available. This talk is to explain the basics of Nanotechnology and its general applications. It also covers the use of Nanotechnology in weld hardfacing.
